Bea Karol Burks
Head of Advice, Information and News at Citizens Advice
Bea is leading a digital transformation at Citizens Advice developing the charity’s future digital advice strategy and tools.
Bea joined Citizens Advice to run the News Team, influencing for change and shaping public debate through the media. She’s helped Citizens Advice use its wealth of data to tell compelling stories about the daily challenges facing Citizens Advice clients. Before that she ran communications for the think tank Demos and was one of the team on Lord Falconer’s Commission on Assisted Dying.
Disrupting the third sector
Presented at Camp Digital 2015.
Last year Citizens Advice turned 75 and began a rapid journey of self-discovery, learning the good, the bad and the ugly of a digital service supporting over 18 million people a year.
It’s lead us to a digital transformation - far bigger than we ever thought it could be and with the power to have an impact in ways we couldn’t have imagined at the beginning.
Are we more GOV.UK or Facebook? How can we build trust over digital platforms? And how do you take 22,000 volunteers through a digital transformation?
I’ll touch on these questions, examine how digital is changing our business model and go through how Citizens Advice is using tech for good to change our clients’ lives for the better.
