Moma Artist & Award Winning Author
With a background in book design and text visualisation, Stefanie works as a designer with a focus on data-related design, with work ranging from data visualization and information design to commissioned data art and data illustration for a variety of clients.
Her personal work focuses on the visual representation of language, literature or numbers and has been exhibited internationally. Her career highlights thus far include being exhibited at MoMA, helping make an app for Stephen Fry, and designing some Jack Kerouac book covers.
As a designer, Stefanie uses data-gathering and data-visualisation as a design process, taking seemingly ‘cold’ data and using it to communicate warm, subjective and often emotional messages. Through her own projects – ranging from interactive installations and physical data visualisations to her (in collaboration with Giorgia Lupi) award-winning personal project and book Dear Data – she will show how in an era of ever-increasing data, a designer can – through channelling their inner 'anorak' – use this data to inform their own practice and output, and begin to view data through a more human-focused lens in the process.
